Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce facility regulations to ensure security
- Conduct regular patrols and headcounts in assigned areas
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using established protocols
- Document incidents and maintain accurate daily reports
- Screen visitors and packages according to departmental procedures
- Participate in training exercises and emergency drills
- Collaborate with shift supervisors and law enforcement partners
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Massachusetts Correctional Officer Academy certification preferred
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass rigorous background check and physical fitness test
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work weekends and holidays consistently
- Basic computer proficiency for report documentation
- First Aid/CPR certification within 6 months of hire
