Responsibilities
- Administer and manage state pension plans, ensuring compliance with ERISA, IRS regulations, and Minnesota state statutes
- Process complex retirement applications, calculate benefits, and maintain accurate participant records
- Conduct comprehensive audits of pension accounts and resolve discrepancies with precision
- Provide expert consultation to retirees and employees regarding plan options, distribution methods, and tax implications
- Collaborate with investment teams to monitor fund performance and recommend strategic adjustments
- Develop and deliver educational workshops on retirement planning for government employees
- Prepare detailed reports for legislative review and executive leadership presentations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Public Administration, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 3 years of pension plan administration experience in government or regulated financial sector
- Proficiency in pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Vangent) and advanced Excel skills
- Strong understanding of qualified retirement plans, 401(a)/457(b) structures, and defined benefit plans
- Series 65 or 66 investment advisor license (or willingness to obtain within 6 months)
- Exceptional analytical abilities with meticulous attention to financial detail
- Excellent communication skills for explaining complex retirement concepts to diverse audiences
