Role Overview
The Weekend Systems Administrator is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of critical IT systems operating during off-hours. You will ensure that all government services remain uninterrupted and secure over the weekend.
Responsibilities
- Monitor server health, network traffic, and system performance during weekend shifts.
- Provide immediate technical support and incident resolution for internal government departments.
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks, including software updates, patches, and security audits.
- Ensure compliance with state data privacy and security regulations.
- Perform regular backups and disaster recovery procedures to minimize downtime.
- Document technical procedures and maintain accurate logs of all weekend operations.
- Collaborate with the Monday-Friday operations team to transition issues and reports.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of professional experience in Systems Administration or IT Support.
- Flexibility to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) on a rotating schedule.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux environments.
- Experience with network protocols, virtualization (VMware/Hyper-V), and cloud services (AWS/Azure).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
