As the City Clerk, you will be the custodian of our city's official history and a vital link between the City Council and the public. You will play a key role in maintaining transparency, ensuring compliance, and facilitating the smooth operation of municipal government.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, including ordinances, resolutions, and minutes.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the City Council and the public regarding administrative inquiries.
- Prepare agendas and supporting materials for city council meetings and board of trustees sessions.
- Ensure strict compliance with state and local regulations regarding public records and open meetings laws.
- Oversee the operation of the municipal library or archives, including cataloging and preservation.
- Coordinate special events and ceremonies held at City Hall.
- Supervise and train clerical staff to ensure high standards of service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Proven experience in office administration, records management, or a related government role.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to draft clear, professional documents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and document management software (e.g., Accela, OnBase).
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with the highest level of discretion.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
