Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, archives, and ordinances in strict compliance with Virginia State code.
- Prepare, post, and distribute official agendas and minutes for City Council and Board meetings.
- Administer oaths of office and certify all official documents and resolutions.
- Process and issue various municipal licenses, permits, and applications efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service to citizens, businesses, and visitors regarding city procedures.
- Coordinate with department heads to ensure the timely execution of administrative projects.
- Act as the primary liaison for the Mayor and City Council regarding clerical matters.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or Paralegal/Public Administration certification is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in municipal administration, government clerical support, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with municipal software (e.g., CivicPlus) is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex regulations and policies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
