Responsibilities
- Manage all official city records, ordinances, and archival documents
- Oversee municipal elections, voter registration, and ballot certification
- Serve as clerk for Boston City Council meetings and hearings
- Administer oaths, notarizations, and public document certifications
- Ensure compliance with Massachusetts public records laws (MGL c.66)
- Manage licensing for businesses, vendors, and special events
- Lead digital transformation of record-keeping systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field
- 5+ years of municipal government or public records experience
- Expert knowledge of Massachusetts election law and public records regulations
- Advanced proficiency in document management systems (e.g., Laserfiche)
- Exceptional organizational skills with attention to legal compliance
- Experience managing FOIA requests and public information access
- Valid Massachusetts Notary Public commission
