Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain official city records, including minutes, resolutions, and ordinances, ensuring strict compliance with D.C. code and archival standards.
- Prepare, distribute, and archive meeting agendas, packets, and official correspondence for the City Council and Executive Offices with precision.
- Act as the primary point of contact for public inquiries regarding municipal records, ensuring timely and courteous responses to constituents.
- Oversee the certification of documents and the execution of legal instruments on behalf of the municipality to ensure legal validity.
- Conduct regular audits of filing systems to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and the protection of sensitive information.
- Assist in the digitalization of legacy records, utilizing GRAMS or similar government records management systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, History, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government records management, municipal administration, or a related high-level clerical role.
- Familiarity with the DC Municipal Regulations and state/local government procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Records Management Systems (e.g., GRAMS, State Records Center software).
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage high volumes of confidential information.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with elected officials, staff, and the general public.
