Responsibilities

  • Oversee the maintenance, organization, and preservation of all city records, including meeting minutes, ordinances, and resolutions.
  • Prepare and distribute official meeting agendas, packets, and minutes for the City Council and other boards and commissions.
  • Act as the primary liaison between the public, city officials, and external agencies regarding official records and inquiries.
  • Manage municipal election processes, including voter registration, candidate filings, and polling day operations.
  • Ensure strict compliance with state and local public records laws, including the California Public Records Act.
  • Coordinate training and orientation sessions for city boards, committees, and staff.
  • Develop and update standard operating procedures for the Clerk's office to improve efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program; an Associate’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, or related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in a municipal or government office environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with document management systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and legally sound documents.
  • High level of attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities under strict deadlines.
  • Knowledge of California Public Records Act (CPRA) and municipal government operations is highly desirable.
