Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and maintain security in correctional facilities during overnight shifts
- Conduct regular perimeter checks and surveillance to ensure facility integrity
- Respond to emergencies, disturbances, and medical incidents with swift professional action
- Document daily logs, incident reports, and inmate behavior using digital systems
- Enforce facility rules and regulations while maintaining humane treatment standards
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies during transport and security operations
- Participate in ongoing training programs for legal updates and tactical procedures
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; college coursework in criminal justice preferred
- Valid Kansas driver's license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check and polygraph examination
- Physical fitness to meet defensive tactics and restraint certification requirements
- Strong conflict resolution skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and surveillance systems
- Must be U.S. citizen and at least 21 years of age
- No felony convictions or domestic violence charges
