Responsibilities
- Monitor inmate activities and enforce institutional rules to ensure facility security
- Conduct regular perimeter checks and headcounts to maintain accountability
- Respond to emergencies and incidents using de-escalation techniques and authorized force
- Document daily operations and incidents in compliance with departmental protocols
- Coordinate with healthcare staff for inmate medical emergencies
- Participate in training programs for security procedures and crisis management
- Maintain accurate logs and reports for administrative review
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Valid Texas Peace Officer License (TCLEOSE certification preferred)
- Pass background check, drug screening, and physical fitness assessment
- Ability to work rotating weekends and holidays
- Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
- Basic computer proficiency for report documentation
- US citizenship and valid driver's license
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
