Responsibilities
- Record Management: Accurately receive, organize, and file legal documents, court transcripts, and case files in accordance with state regulations.
- Public Assistance: Provide exceptional service to visitors by answering inquiries, assisting with document retrieval, and directing them to the correct departments.
- Data Entry: Perform high-volume data entry tasks, ensuring all information is entered correctly into the county's case management software.
- Calendar Management: Maintain the court docket, schedule hearings, and prepare necessary court summons and notices.
- Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to confidentiality policies and local courthouse procedures.
- General Support: Assist other court staff and clerks with daily operations to ensure the courthouse runs smoothly.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or Criminal Justice is a plus.
- Experience: Prior experience in an office environment, legal administration, or customer service is highly preferred.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with court management software (e.g., Tyler Technologies) is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain accuracy when handling sensitive legal documents and data.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public and legal professionals.
