Responsibilities
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital and physical records of court filings, docket entries, and legal documents.
- Customer Service: Serve as the first point of contact for attorneys, litigants, and visitors, providing courteous and efficient assistance.
- File Processing: Receive, index, and process legal papers and subpoenas in accordance with Massachusetts state laws and court procedures.
- Data Entry: Perform high-volume data entry with a focus on accuracy and speed using the court's case management software.
- Communication: Answer inquiries regarding court schedules, case status, and filing requirements via phone, email, and in-person.
- Confidentiality: Strictly adhere to protocols to protect sensitive legal information and maintain courtroom decorum.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associateβs degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a legal environment, courthouse, or municipal office is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience with case management software (e.g., iCourt, Odyssey) is a plus.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to manage high volumes of paperwork with 100% accuracy.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Reliability: Must be available to work a standard full-time schedule, including potential evening hours.
