Responsibilities
- Monitor Security Operations Center (SOC) alerts and manage SIEM dashboards during the night shift to ensure 24/7 threat visibility and rapid incident response.
- Investigate and triage cybersecurity incidents, including malware analysis, phishing attempts, and unauthorized access attempts.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage patching schedules to mitigate risks to government networks.
- Document detailed incident reports and compliance audits for federal oversight and internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with system administrators to implement and maintain firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and VPNs.
- Stay updated on the latest cyber threat intelligence and apply necessary defensive measures to protect organizational assets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field; or equivalent military experience (e.g., 086X MOS).
- Certification: CISSP, Security+, CEH, or CCNA Security is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, or a related IT field.
- Must be willing and able to work rotating night shifts (typically 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and common network protocols.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm and focused during high-pressure security events.
