Responsibilities
- Process daily payroll disbursements and verify the accuracy of financial transactions against state records.
- Manage incoming inquiries from state employees regarding pay schedules, deductions, and tax information.
- Ensure strict adherence to DC government financial regulations, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Update and maintain comprehensive digital and physical payroll records with high levels of confidentiality.
- Collaborate with the HR team to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee concerns.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for state oversight bodies.
- Utilize state databases to input data and generate payroll summaries efficiently.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required; an Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred.
- Previous experience in government payroll processing, banking, or a similar financial clerical role is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and Word for documentation.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors in complex datasets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse staff members.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive financial and personal employee data.
