Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain comprehensive emergency response plans for natural disasters and man-made incidents
- Coordinate multi-agency drills and real-time emergency operations
- Analyze risk assessments and recommend mitigation strategies for vulnerable communities
- Manage grant funding for emergency preparedness initiatives
- Train public officials and community volunteers on emergency protocols
- Ensure compliance with FEMA and Florida Division of Emergency Management standards
- Lead public communication during crisis situations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years experience in emergency management or public safety
- FEMAI-100/700 certifications or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency software (e.g., WebEOC)
- Valid Florida driver's license
- Ability to work 24/7 during emergencies and irregular hours
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Experience with federal grant applications (e.g., HMGP, PREP)
