Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive emergency response plans for natural disasters and public health crises
- Coordinate multi-agency disaster response operations during critical incidents
- Conduct risk assessments and vulnerability analyses for county infrastructure
- Train public officials and community groups in emergency protocols
- Manage grant-funded projects for emergency infrastructure improvements
- Prepare federal disaster assistance documentation and reports
- Leverage GIS technology for emergency resource allocation and situational awareness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of emergency management or public safety experience
- Incident Command System (ICS) certification (FEMA IS-100/200/300/400)
- Valid Kansas driver's license with clean driving record
- Experience with emergency notification systems and GIS software
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional teams during crises
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work irregular hours during emergencies
