Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive emergency preparedness plans for natural disasters and public health emergencies
- Coordinate multi-agency response during incidents including hurricanes, floods, and terrorist threats
- Train city staff and community volunteers on emergency protocols and incident command systems
- Manage federal grant programs for disaster mitigation and resilience projects
- Analyze risk assessments and recommend infrastructure improvements for hazard mitigation
- Lead public awareness campaigns about emergency preparedness and response procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years' experience in emergency management or public safety coordination
- FEMA Professional Development Series (PDS) certification required
- Incident Command System (ICS) 300/400 certification preferred
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency management software
- Valid Texas driver's license with clean record
- Ability to work irregular hours during emergencies and disaster deployments
