Responsibilities
- Coordinate multi-agency emergency response operations during natural disasters and public safety events
- Develop and implement crisis communication protocols for city residents
- Manage resource allocation and deployment for emergency shelters and supply distribution
- Conduct regular risk assessments and update emergency preparedness plans
- Liaise with FEMA, state emergency offices, and nonprofit partners
- Train city staff and community volunteers on emergency procedures
- Prepare daily incident reports and maintain documentation compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Administration, or related field
- Minimum 2 years experience in disaster response or government operations
- Certification in Incident Command System (ICS) or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of Louisiana emergency management protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work 12+ hour shifts during emergencies
- Valid Louisiana driver's license and clean driving record
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and emergency management software
