Responsibilities
- Process Pension Inquiries: Receive, review, and respond to complex inquiries from federal employees and retirees regarding pension eligibility, calculation methods, and benefit distribution.
- Case Management: Accurately maintain and update case files, ensuring all documentation is organized and compliant with federal privacy regulations (NIST 800-171).
- Plan Administration: Assist in the administration of various federal pension plans, including verifying service credit and calculating annuity estimates.
- Client Communication: Communicate sensitive financial information clearly and professionally, translating complex regulatory language into understandable terms for non-technical audiences.
- Compliance & Audit: Support internal quality assurance teams by preparing reports and responding to audits regarding pension processing accuracy.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with the Legal and IT departments to resolve discrepancies in pension data and software systems.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience in a customer service or administrative role may be considered.
- Attention to Detail: Demonstrated ability to perform high-volume data entry with a high degree of accuracy and zero tolerance for errors.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to a diverse audience.
- Government Knowledge: Basic understanding of federal government structure, regulations, or a strong willingness to learn federal policies is highly preferred.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn agency-specific case management software quickly.
- Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Background Clearance (non-sensitive).
