Responsibilities
- Record Management: Maintain accurate and confidential files, records, and databases using both electronic and physical systems.
- Public Assistance: Greet visitors, answer multi-line telephones, and direct inquiries to the appropriate department or staff member.
- Data Entry: Process forms, applications, and city documents with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
- Correspondence: Draft, proofread, and distribute internal and external correspondence, including memos and emails.
- Meeting Support: Prepare meeting agendas, take minutes, and organize materials for departmental meetings.
- Inventory Control: Assist in the tracking and ordering of office supplies and equipment.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; some college coursework in business administration or public service is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience: No prior professional experience required; entry-level candidates with internship or volunteer experience are encouraged to apply.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to learn new government software quickly.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with the public and city staff.
- Requirements: Must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screening as required by the City of Columbus.
