Responsibilities
- Assist with Pension Processing: Support the administration of employee pension plans by processing new applications, reviewing documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
- Member Inquiries: Serve as the first point of contact for retirees and active employees regarding pension questions, providing clear and professional customer service.
- Data Management: Ensure the integrity of pension data by performing regular audits, data entry, and updating the pension management system.
- Reporting: Prepare and compile monthly and quarterly reports for the City's Retirement Board and external auditors.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local, state, and federal pension regulations to ensure the City remains compliant with all governing laws.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the HR team, Finance department, and external actuaries to support long-term financial planning.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Human Resources is a plus.
- Experience: No prior government or pension experience required; we provide on-the-job training for enthusiastic candidates.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn new pension software quickly.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to diverse audiences.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for accuracy in data entry and document review.
- Integrity: Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive financial and personal information with strict confidentiality.
