Responsibilities
- Process and review new pension applications and retirement benefit requests with accuracy and timeliness.
- Calculate pension benefits and service credits for retirees and vested employees.
- Provide exceptional customer service by responding to inquiries via phone, email, and in person regarding retirement plans.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Assist in the preparation of reports for the State Board of Trustees and external auditors.
- Collaborate with the actuarial and benefits administration teams to ensure compliance with changing laws.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent work experience in a government or financial setting).
- Strong mathematical aptitude and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- High level of attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.
- Must be willing to undergo a background check.
