As an IT Support Specialist, you will be the first line of defense for our employees, ensuring they have the technological tools they need to serve the citizens of Oklahoma effectively.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot Hardware & Software: Diagnose and resolve technical issues ranging from desktop printers to complex network connectivity problems for state employees.
- User Support: Provide friendly, professional, and timely assistance to staff via phone, email, and in-person support tickets.
- System Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on computers, servers, and peripherals to ensure optimal system performance and security.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all support tickets, solutions implemented, and hardware inventory in the state's centralized database.
- Security Compliance: Assist in enforcing IT security policies and ensuring all software updates and patches are applied promptly.
- Project Assistance: Support ongoing IT initiatives and departmental upgrades as assigned by senior IT leadership.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: No prior professional IT experience required; internship or volunteer experience is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems (Windows), and networking concepts.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot issues methodically.
- Availability: Must be available to work full-time, Monday through Friday.
