Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities, and public swimming pools
- Investigate environmental health complaints (e.g., sanitation hazards, vector control issues)
- Enforce county, state, and federal public health regulations
- Provide technical guidance and education to businesses and community members
- Prepare detailed inspection reports and maintain accurate records
- Collaborate with interagency partners during public health emergencies
- Participate in community outreach initiatives on environmental health topics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, or related field
- Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) certification
- Minimum 2 years of environmental health inspection experience
- Strong knowledge of California Health & Safety Code requirements
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Valid California driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish highly desirable
