Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive aircraft accident/incident investigations per 14 CFR Part 830
- Analyze safety data systems to identify emerging risks in manufacturing and maintenance operations
- Develop compliance guidance for Part 145 repair stations and Part 21 production facilities
- Collaborate with manufacturers on safety-critical design modifications
- Present technical findings to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)
- Lead safety audits at Wichita's major aerospace facilities (Spirit AeroSystems, Boeing)
- Maintain compliance with FAA Order 2150.3D safety management systems
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aviation, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certification required
- Minimum 5 years aviation maintenance/quality assurance experience
- Expertise in 14 CFR Parts 1, 21, 43, 145, and 183
- Incident investigation training (ASIST or equivalent)
- Active Secret security clearance (ability to obtain)
- Proficiency with FAA safety databases (CAST, ASRS)
- Knowledge of Wichita aerospace ecosystem preferred
