Responsibilities
Develop and maintain compliance programs aligned with VA regulations and OMB guidelinesConduct internal audits and risk assessments for medical records and IT systemsTrain staff on federal healthcare privacy laws (HIPAA, FERPA)Investigate and resolve compliance violations through corrective action plansCoordinate with DOJ and HHS-OIG during regulatory inquiriesUpdate compliance documentation and policy manuals annuallyLead cross-functional committees for regulatory change management
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Law, or related field3+ years of federal compliance experience in healthcareCertified Healthcare Compliance Officer (CHCO) or CCEP designationExpertise in HIPAA, VA directives, and 42 CFR Part 2Advanced knowledge of federal procurement regulations (FAR)Proficient with VA VistA electronic health records systemAbility to obtain and maintain Secret security clearanceExperience managing compliance audits with HHS-OIG
