Responsibilities
- Monitor, analyze, and report on network traffic and system vulnerabilities to ensure the integrity of VA information systems.
- Conduct regular security assessments and risk assessments to identify potential threats and implement mitigation strategies.
- Respond to security incidents and coordinate with IT teams to restore services and prevent recurrence.
- Implement and maintain security protocols in compliance with federal regulations (e.g., NIST, FISMA) and agency policies.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff on cybersecurity best practices and awareness.
- Manage the lifecycle of security tools, including configuration, patching, and troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- At least 3-5 years of professional experience in cybersecurity, network security, or information assurance.
- Certification preferred: CompTIA Security+, CISSP, or CEH.
- Understanding of federal IT security frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for reporting to senior management.
