Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain NIST cybersecurity frameworks across VA IT infrastructure
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing on federal systems
- Monitor security alerts using SIEM tools and respond to incidents within SLAs
- Develop security documentation including policies, procedures, and risk assessments
- Coordinate with federal agencies on threat intelligence sharing and incident response
- Lead security awareness training for VA staff in Tampa Bay area
- Ensure compliance with FISMA, FedRAMP, and OMB directives
Qualifications
- Active Secret security clearance (or ability to obtain Top Secret)
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience in federal IT security roles
- Certifications: CISSP, Security+, or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner
- Proficiency with CIS Controls, NIST SP 800-53, and FedRAMP requirements
- Experience with cloud security (AWS/Azure) and zero-trust architectures
- Strong analytical skills for threat detection and incident response
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA-specific IT security certifications
