Responsibilities
- Oversee electronic health record systems to ensure HIPAA/FERPA compliance and data integrity
- Develop and implement health information policies aligned with federal regulations (VA directives, CMS standards)
- Lead data quality audits and process improvement initiatives for veteran health records
- Coordinate with clinical teams to resolve complex health information challenges
- Train staff on health information management best practices and system usage
- Generate reports for leadership on data accuracy and operational metrics
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (RHIA/RHIT certification preferred)
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management with federal compliance exposure
- Proficiency in Epic, Cerner, or VA-specific health information systems
- Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH Act, and CMS quality reporting requirements
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data governance and workflow optimization
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Excellent communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration
