Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain comprehensive electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Oversee health information coding and classification using ICD-10 and CPT standards
- Conduct data quality audits and implement corrective actions for documentation accuracy
- Coordinate release of information requests while ensuring legal compliance and veteran privacy
- Train healthcare staff on health information management best practices and EHR utilization
- Analyze health data trends to support clinical decision-making and process improvements
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to optimize health information workflows
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management
- Expertise in EHR systems (Epic or Cerner preferred)
- Knowledge of federal healthcare regulations (HIPAA, VA directives)
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
- Ability to manage sensitive data with confidentiality
- Experience training healthcare staff on documentation systems
