Responsibilities
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with federal HIPAA regulations
- Oversee medical coding and documentation accuracy for veteran healthcare services
- Implement and maintain health information security protocols
- Conduct audits to ensure regulatory compliance (CMS, JCAHO, VA standards)
- Train staff on health information management systems and procedures
- Analyze healthcare data to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency
- Coordinate with medical staff for accurate clinical documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years health information management experience
- Proficiency with EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Epic)
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, CMS, and VA regulations
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
