Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records (EHR) systems for veteran patients
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, VA regulations, and federal data privacy standards
- Train healthcare staff on EHR system usage and data management protocols
- Generate reports and analytics for healthcare quality improvement initiatives
- Collaborate with IT and clinical teams to resolve data discrepancies
- Conduct regular audits of health information for accuracy and completeness
- Support VA's transition to advanced healthcare information technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (or eligible)
- Minimum 3 years experience in healthcare data management
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., VistA, Epic)
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and federal healthcare regulations
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
- U.S. citizenship required
