Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health records (EHR) systems ensuring data integrity and accessibility
- Implement HIPAA compliance protocols and conduct regular privacy audits
- Train healthcare staff on information management best practices and federal regulations
- Coordinate medical record retrieval processes for patient care and administrative purposes
- Develop data governance policies aligned with VA and federal standards
- Collaborate with IT security teams to protect sensitive veteran health information
- Generate reports on health data usage patterns for operational improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, or related field
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification required
- Minimum 3 years experience in healthcare data management
- Expertise in HIPAA/HITECH compliance and federal healthcare regulations
- Proficiency in EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) and health data analytics tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding standards
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal background clearance
