Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain confidential veteran health records in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Implement electronic health record (EHR) systems and optimize data retrieval workflows
- Conduct regular audits of health information systems for accuracy and security
- Collaborate with clinical teams to resolve data discrepancies and improve documentation
- Train staff on health information management protocols and privacy regulations
- Generate compliance reports for federal oversight agencies
- Coordinate with IT on system upgrades and data migration projects
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field (Bachelor's preferred)
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or RHIT credential required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management
- Proficiency in Epic EHR systems and federal health data standards
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and 21st Century Cures Act
- Ability to obtain and maintain federal background clearance
- Experience with federal grant reporting and compliance documentation
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to regulatory detail
