Responsibilities
- Maintain and secure electronic health records in compliance with VA regulations
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient encounters and medical procedures
- Perform quality reviews of health information for completeness and accuracy
- Utilize VistA electronic health record system for data management
- Assist with coding medical diagnoses and procedures for billing purposes
- Respond to record requests from authorized providers and patients
- Train staff on health information protocols and privacy standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent with accredited Health Information Technology program
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in medical records management
- Proficiency in electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Knowledge of HIPAA and medical terminology
- U.S. citizenship and background clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
