Responsibilities
- Maintain and audit electronic health records (EHR) in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Process veteran medical documentation with 99.9% accuracy within strict deadlines
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve record discrepancies
- Train staff on new health information management protocols
- Conduct regular compliance audits for JCAHO and VA standards
- Implement secure document storage and retrieval systems
- Generate weekly performance reports for leadership review
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or related field (Bachelor's preferred)
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or RHIT credentials required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in federal or VA health records
- Proficiency with VistA EHR system and VA medical terminology
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and VA record-keeping laws
- Ability to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance
- Strong attention to detail with zero-error tolerance for veteran data
