Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement security controls to protect federal information systems against cyber threats.
- Monitor system security alerts and analyze security logs to identify and mitigate potential vulnerabilities in real-time.
- Manage and maintain the Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance for assigned systems.
- Oversee the investigation and resolution of security incidents, ensuring timely reporting to senior leadership and oversight bodies.
- Develop, update, and disseminate security policies, procedures, and training materials for federal staff.
- Coordinate with external auditors and federal inspectors general to ensure full compliance with NIST and OMB mandates.
- Perform regular penetration testing and vulnerability scans to ensure system resilience.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field from an accredited institution.
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
- Certification required: CompTIA Security+ (or higher) within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in federal IT security, network administration, or systems engineering.
- Experience with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) and Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP).
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and virtualization technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder briefings.
