Responsibilities
- Maintain and organize electronic/paper medical records in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Process health information requests from clinical staff and authorized parties
- Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT systems
- Train staff on records management protocols and electronic health record systems
- Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve documentation discrepancies
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Health Information Technology or related field
- 2+ years of medical records management experience
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or RHIT preferred
- Proficiency with EHR systems (Epic, Cerner)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, VA policies, and CMS regulations
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
