Responsibilities
- Administer Federal Retirement Plans: Manage the full lifecycle of FERS (Federal Employees Retirement System) pension applications, including contributions, vesting, and disbursements.
- Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Interpret and apply federal regulations, OPM guidelines, and agency-specific policies to ensure all pension processing is accurate and compliant.
- Conduct Pension Audits: Perform regular reviews of personnel records and financial data to identify discrepancies and ensure accurate benefit calculations.
- Client and Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for federal employees and retirees regarding pension inquiries, providing clear and professional guidance.
- Data Management: Maintain up-to-date and secure electronic and physical records of all pension-related transactions and communications.
- Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Finance, and Legal departments to resolve complex pension issues and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; High school diploma with significant federal experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in federal pension administration, human resources, or financial services.
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of FERS, CSRS, and federal retirement laws (Title 5, U.S. Code).
- Skills: Proficiency in HRIS systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality.
- Certifications: SHRM-CP or PHR/SPHR certification is a plus.
