Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive actuarial valuations and financial analyses of the Federal Pension Plan to ensure solvency and compliance with federal regulations.
- Monitor pension fund performance and project future liabilities to recommend strategic funding adjustments and policy recommendations.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external actuaries to interpret complex data and prepare detailed reports for Congress and agency leadership.
- Develop and maintain complex spreadsheets and databases to track participant demographics and benefit accruals.
- Advise on the interpretation of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS) provisions.
- Oversee the processing of retirement applications and ensure accurate calculation of benefits.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in pension administration, actuarial science, or public sector financial management.
- Strong understanding of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and the Civil Service Retirement System (CSRS).
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Credentialed Actuary (ASA, FSA, EA) or eligibility to sit for exams is a significant plus.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and experience with SQL or actuarial software (e.g., Milliman, Moody's RMS) is required.
