Responsibilities
- Analyze federal legislation and regulations affecting veteran services in California
- Develop policy recommendations aligned with VA strategic goals and state-specific needs
- Prepare comprehensive reports and briefings for congressional stakeholders
- Coordinate with state agencies and veteran service organizations
- Monitor implementation of federal programs in California's 58 counties
- Lead stakeholder engagement sessions and public forums
- Manage grant programs supporting veteran transition and wellness initiatives
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, or related field
- 3+ years of federal or state government policy experience
- Deep knowledge of veterans' affairs programs and federal funding mechanisms
- Expertise in California-specific veteran demographics and service gaps
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis tools (SPSS, R, or SAS)
- Strong written/verbal communication skills for policy documents
- Active security clearance eligibility
- Experience with federal grant management systems
