Responsibilities
- Manage and administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies
- Provide expert guidance to state employees on benefits enrollment, eligibility, and claims processing
- Conduct regular benefits audits and compliance reviews ensuring adherence to federal/state regulations
- Develop and implement innovative wellness initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction and retention
- Collaborate with HR teams to align benefits strategies with organizational goals
- Prepare comprehensive reports on benefits utilization and program effectiveness
- Stay current on evolving healthcare legislation and policy changes affecting public sector benefits
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in benefits administration or HR management
- Knowledge of federal/state employment laws (ERISA, ACA, FMLA)
- Strong analytical skills with experience in benefits data analysis and reporting
- Excellent communication skills for employee training and policy dissemination
- Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or SHRM-CP/SCP preferred
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and benefits administration software
- Ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
