Responsibilities
- Administer defined benefit pension plans including eligibility calculations, benefit computations, and disbursement processing
- Manage participant communications regarding retirement planning, contribution limits, and policy updates
- Conduct compliance reviews ensuring adherence to ERISA, IRS regulations, and state statutes
- Coordinate with investment teams to align fund performance with actuarial projections
- Oversee participant data integrity across HRIS and pension administration systems
- Prepare quarterly reports for regulatory submissions and executive oversight
- Develop retirement education workshops for state employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
- 3+ years of pension plan administration experience in public sector
- Proficiency with pension administration software (e.g., Millennium, Relius)
- Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) or Qualified Retirement Plan Administrator (QPA) preferred
- Deep understanding of ERISA, IRS 401(a) regulations, and Texas state pension laws
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to financial detail
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities for participant interactions
