Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy municipal equipment including trucks, sweepers, and loaders in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Sweep and clean streets throughout the city of New Orleans, removing debris, trash, and leaves to maintain high sanitation standards.
- Perform manual labor such as lifting, bending, and digging as required to clear obstructions and ensure proper drainage.
- Monitor and report hazardous conditions, infrastructure damage, or code violations to the immediate supervisor.
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicles and work areas, ensuring all tools and machinery are properly maintained.
- Interact with the public in a professional manner, answering questions and directing traffic when necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid Louisiana Driverβs License is required with a clean driving record.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50+ pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
- Pass a criminal background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.
- Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and rain.
