Responsibilities
- Oversee the administration of the State Retirement System, ensuring accurate processing of member contributions, service credits, and pension benefit calculations.
- Conduct rigorous compliance audits to verify adherence to Georgia state statutes and federal pension regulations (ERISA, FERS).
- Analyze large datasets to identify trends in retirement patterns and recommend system efficiency improvements.
- Provide high-level customer service and technical support to members regarding eligibility, vesting, and benefit distribution inquiries.
- Collaborate with internal legal teams and external auditors to resolve complex benefit discrepancies and ensure audit readiness.
- Prepare detailed actuarial and financial reports for the Board of Trustees and legislative oversight committees.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in government benefits administration, pension management, or actuarial science.
- Strong working knowledge of the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) or Georgia State Retirement System (GSRS) regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with specialized retirement management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle HR).
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and statutes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for high-stakes client interactions.
- Certification as a Certified Pension Finance Professional (CPFP) or equivalent is a plus.
