Our 12-week paid training curriculum covers grant research, proposal development, compliance, and relationship building with funders. You'll work alongside senior grant writers to secure funding for critical initiatives in education, healthcare, and economic development across Southeast Michigan. No prior grant writing experience required – we provide all tools and training needed to succeed!
Responsibilities
- Research and identify public/private funding opportunities aligned with organizational mission
- Develop compelling grant proposals, budgets, and supporting documentation
- Manage relationships with program staff to gather project information
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements and reporting guidelines
- Maintain accurate grant application databases and submission calendars
- Collaborate with finance team on budget development and financial reporting
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance grant writing expertise
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or related field
- Exceptional written communication and persuasive writing skills
- Strong research and analytical abilities with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize competing tasks
- Commitment to Detroit's community development and nonprofit sector
- Willingness to learn through structured mentorship and training
- Portfolio demonstrating writing samples (academic or professional accepted)
