Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain electronic health record systems in compliance with HIPAA and VA regulations
- Implement data governance policies to ensure information accuracy and accessibility
- Conduct regular audits of health information systems to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Train staff on health information management protocols and new system implementations
- Collaborate with IT security teams to protect sensitive veteran health data
- Develop reports on health information metrics for leadership decision-making
- Stay current with evolving federal healthcare information standards and technologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 3 years' experience in healthcare data management
- Proficiency in EHR systems (Epic preferred)
- Knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and VA data security protocols
- Demonstrated project management experience in healthcare IT
- Ability to obtain and maintain a federal security clearance
