Responsibilities
- Oversee electronic health record systems ensuring HIPAA and VA compliance
- Implement health information privacy protocols and security measures
- Analyze healthcare data to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency
- Train staff on health information management best practices
- Coordinate with clinical departments to maintain accurate medical documentation
- Conduct audits of health information systems for regulatory compliance
- Lead data migration projects for new healthcare technology implementations
- Develop reports on health information quality metrics for leadership review
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
- RHIA or RHIT certification required (or eligible)
- 3+ years experience with electronic health record systems (EHR)
- Expert knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and VA health information regulations
- Proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT coding standards
- Strong data analysis and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with healthcare data security protocols
- Ability to obtain and maintain VA security clearance
