Responsibilities
- Manage and secure electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and federal regulations
- Process and code medical diagnoses/procedures using ICD-10 and CPT classification systems
- Conduct quality audits of health information documentation for accuracy and completeness
- Provide weekend coverage for health information requests from clinical staff and veterans
- Train staff on health information management policies and procedures
- Collaborate with IT department on system upgrades and security protocols
- Generate reports for healthcare analytics and regulatory compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field (or equivalent experience)
- RHIA or RHIT certification required
- Minimum 2 years' experience in health information management
- Familiarity with VA Vist EHR system preferred
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA and healthcare privacy regulations
- Ability to work independently during weekend shifts (Saturday/Sunday 7am-3:30pm)
- Excellent attention to detail and data management skills
- U.S. citizenship required
