Responsibilities
- Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls with high accuracy and urgency.
- Dispatch police, fire, and medical units to appropriate locations using a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
- Maintain accurate radio and computer records of all communications and unit activities.
- Provide critical information to first responders and other agencies in high-stress situations.
- Monitor radio frequencies and traffic to identify potential threats or emergencies.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of new dispatch personnel once qualified.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Clean criminal history (background check and drug screening required).
- Strong typing skills (minimum 35-40 WPM preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions under pressure.
